CONFERENCE: "20 Years after Foucault"
Two decades after his passing in 1984, Michel Foucault continues to be
regarded among the most groundbreaking and provocative theorists in
contemporary political thought. The student-run conference we are planning
will be themed around Foucault's life and work, his influence and legacy,
and what they signify for us as we look to the challenges of the
twenty-first century. It will be held on Monday, April 26, 2004 at the New School for Social Research in New York City.
Brian's Magic Theatre
My homepage. The "Magic Theatre" is where one can find some of my academic work, photos of some my art work, and an index of links to various sites around the web dealing with philosophy, politics, art, and hypertext.
The name "Magic Theatre" comes from the book Steppenwolf by Hermann Hesse, and as a concept points to internal multiplicity of the self. Hesse writes, "From the very start there is no innocence and no singleness. Every created thing, even the simplest, is already guilty, already multiple." "Brian's Magic Theatre" can be described as my attempt to frame the entangled channels of my multiple life into an organized incoherence.
Philosophy Pages
A few people may remember that the original Panopticweb was a philosophy links page. Panopticweb's philosophy pages are mainly dedicated to English-language resources regarding individual philosophers, including dedicated websites, complete online texts, and secondary sources. Right now, there are sections for Aristotle, Baudrillard, Foucault, Habermas, Hegel, Heidegger, Kant, Marx, Nietzsche, and Plato & Socrates. More will be added in the coming months.
Mark Abelson's Page
Right now, the page is simply Mark's resume. Perhaps more will be coming soon...or not.
